Butterfly Garden (Planted 2006)

Educational messages focus on identification of butterflies and moths, their life cycles and their food preferences. Not only will nectar plants be featured (liatris, monarda, butterfly weed, sedum, butterby-brush, goldenrod, false sunflower, and purple coneflower) but also larval food plants for developing caterpillars (pearly everlasting, pussytoes, milkweed, butterfly weed, dill and parsley).

How wonderful to see Monarch butterflies, painted ladies, viceroys, swallowtails, and many others up close!

The Bill Kilpack butterfly sundial is a centerpiece among this cornucopia of color. Limestone water dishes are also interspersed throughout the area.
