Stream Garden (2005)

Stream Garden

Enhancing the romantic chard of the garden is the Stream Garden with its construction of stonework and bridges. Winding through the Wetland Garden, past the Butterfly and Bird Gardens, the stream empties into a pool in the Midwest Garden. Plantings in the Pond Garden reflect a Victorian time period. (The Victorian period was the greatest period of growth for Iowa and Clear Lake.) A major water-related sculpture will be added in the near future.

The Meadows Garden and the Woodland Garden both include native streamside plants such as marsh marigold, joe-pye weed, blue flag, turtlehead and blazing star which are massed along the watercourse.
