Wetland Garden (2006-2008)

Located between the Water and Bird Gardens, This small garden demonstrates the importance of wetlands as wildlife habitat and natural filtration systems. A backhoe carved out a depression for a shallow pool and liners have been laid to hold water. Native marginal and emergent plants such as rushes, sedges, and pickerelweed thrive here.

Despite its small size, this garden will help raise awareness of the importance of wetland protection. More than half of all threatened or endangered species depend on wetlands during their life cycle.
